I would have composed with a little less sky and camera a little lower to catch that reflected glow. I'd also use a grad ND along with the polarizer. Just a matter of preference.

While I might have liked a lower angle for this shot, I like the ratio of sky to ground. The subtle colors and gentle sweep of the river and sky is quite nice. While this might lack the drama of some landscapes, it sets a very relaxing mood.

 

To your credit, I wouldn't have guessed this was polarized. I'm not sure I see how a grad ND would have been a good choice. The brightness of the sky and ground seem fairly equal. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Didn't mean to imply to use a grand ND on the image above as it looks fine but if the view is lower, then more of the darker areas will be included. Happy shootin'.
