aepelbacher 0 Posted August 27, 2005 As I watch many of you post wonderful images of doors and windows, I have often wondered why I wasn't being inpired to photograph any of the doors or windows that I see during my every day. Then I took my Digital Rebel to Europe, and I understood completely! Thus, this is the first of several images of doors and windows that you will see coming up. I loved the metal fixtures and decorative elements. I wish that I had been able to place myself up a bit higher so that the door doesn't look like an angle (taken from below). Any of your thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 27, 2005 Also - do you like the color version or this quick B&W better? The color isn't important to the content of the image here ... but I can't decide if I like the aesthetics of the B&W better than the deep wood color in the original. Link to comment
julio_segura_carmona1 2 Posted August 27, 2005 Bello encuadre y perfecto color,, un saludo, Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 27, 2005 Keep the color. Although the contrast is good in the b/w the color photo has a monochromatic feel to it already. I think in b/w the door gets lost next to the texture of the stone walls. Nice Photo. Amy H. Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted August 27, 2005 Nice and clear, Lou. I might have cropped the window on the left, but that's just me. A good one. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 27, 2005 Thanks for your input, everyone. I went back and forth about the window on the left. Cropped out, the image would be VERY symmetric, and I don't know that I wanted that. So I left it in.... Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 28, 2005 Lou Ann, nice one! I like it that you have left part of the window.the composition has more interest. I think that the colored image is nicer here( IMO) than the B/W version. Pnina Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted August 28, 2005 Nice clean shot with lots of detail. As for the window, I have no problem with it. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 28, 2005 Lou Ann- I vote color! (not normal for me, I love B&W). I love the variation in the stone colors here. The door is wonderful. Makes my imagination go 90mph. Who? When? Why? What influenced the design? Terrific capture. In my area, they did a calender of unique doors. This would definately be in there. You know me, when I have the time, I love to play. Hubby's gone, have a little time, I just couldn't resist! Hope you don't mind. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 28, 2005 Jayme - I enjoy your "play"! What exactly did you do? Boost the levels? I'd love to hear... Link to comment
mari_mar 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Well done, Lou Ann, love both versions. Good contrast! Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Great job, Lou Ann. I, too, love doors and windows and old, neglected, building's details.here, I love both versions with a certain recent bias towards B&W.And I do hate that garish version above with those boosted colours that so completely destroy the old look of the lovely door. sondra kick 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Lou Ann, I like the b/w image. That door is fantastic, good find. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted August 31, 2005 A great contrast of textures in both the b&w and color versions. Nice work - I refuse to decide which is better. Regards. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted September 1, 2005 I prefer the colour version. The reds and yellows of the door go well with the subtle stone colours. I like the composition with the off centre door and bit of window. Link to comment
novastorm 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Great shot Lou Ann. I thought I was the only one who liked to take shots of doors and windows. Also why I haven't posted any. This one has great clarity. The textures stand out nicely and I really like the cut off window allowing me to surmise as to what is off to that side. Don't think you could have done any better here :). Good to see you, Cheers Nova ~ Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Glad it is not centered, Lou Ann. The natural color appeals to me, as does the subject...nice work. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted September 5, 2005 LouAnn, your door looks official and Jayme's like a fun place to be. Both very good. I prefer color. Link to comment
