I shot this at just past sundown at the site of large forest fire near

Burns, Oregon. I took this at with my new used Mamiya 645 with long

exposure 1/4 sec. I usually work in b&w, but decided to try some color

for the fun. I would appreciate your comments, suggestions, and

ratings. Thanks.

Did you use a grad ND? If so, it's hardly noticeable. But it looks like the camera wasn't horizontal which is a little distracting to me. I also wish the tree was sharper.

When I scanned this photo, I must not have gotten it straight on the scanner. No filters were used. Just a number of different exposures to try to get the light right. Also, some annoying biting flies and mosquitos!

Nice colours, and good content. Why is the tree in silhouette above the horizon, but you can pick up the detail of the bark below the horizon?

This picture is either manipulated in photoshop or/and a strip ND-filter is used.

One can clearly see that the tree is darker in the middle. In my opinion the picture looks a little stange and unreal.

But I like it anyway !

I think if you read the discription you get a clue about the tree coloration...The tree is burned in the crown area. Nice pic, doesn't look like a conspiracy here.

I'm not sure if it was the beautiful color that caught my attention or your composition but I like it either way. I find the amount of field you have in the photo a bit distracting. Maybe if you had taken a lower angle and gotten a little less of the field it would really hit home the dramatic nature of the sky versus the bare tree. Good stuff!
