mikeivnitsky 0 Posted September 1, 2005 This photo, while a happy capture of a dear individual has no photographic qualities(in my opinions)and while might have a great personal value has little public value.I hope that qualifies as an explanation for my low rating. Link to comment
iren 1 Posted September 3, 2005 Please don't assume this is a picture "of a dear individual" for me- in fact it is not. It was a candid shot taken and I personally really was happy with the result. I think it is a funny shot of something the Japanese are known for. Yes, it is your opinion re-photographic value- as you say, and I happen to disagree with your opinion. And no, it doesn't qualify as a valid reason for your low rating, in my opinion. I went to your portfolio and quite frankly, in my opinion, I don't care for many of your photos, but I still would not give 1/2 ratings as I recognize it is personal taste. But, whatever. I do enjoy being a part of PN and most of the time appreciate the feedback as most people are fair and have constructive criticism that is helpful. Link to comment
sonicstep 0 Posted October 4, 2005 I see this as a credible (that is not staged or contrived, no fancy tricks), nicely cropped and composed candid portrait type composition that has successfully captured the moment. From my point of view, I consider it attractive to see the child in an older person as is so evident here, especially when it is from a culture other than my own. Well done and keep up the effort! iren 1 Posted October 7, 2005 Thank you Earl It is rewarding when someone else experiences a similar mood to that of the photographer's intent! Happy shooting! Irene Link to comment
