Assassin Bug, predator of other insects, injects venon which breaks down tissue, then with straw like appendage sucks out liquid just like a straw. Great number of types of these critters, some even known to spit thier venom up to a foot. Can cause temporary blindness if you should catch venon in your eyes. Nice shot of this colorful little guy. I just caught a shot of a Wheel Assassin a couple weeks ago. Sam, checked out your portfolio, great shots, enjoyed very much!

You seem to have too shallow DOF, also you cut one antenna. Otherwise nice bug.

T M B, thanks very much for all the info. I'm glad I did'nt know that already while shooting this critter at close quarters. Fortunately, I've had my reading speccies on me nose, in order to get the DOF more or less all right by looking on the little monitor of my camera, possibly protecting me from all that venom spitting.

Yes Joachim, one antenna did not make it to get into the picture. Too bad indeed.
