no fill flash. all natural lighting. 1050mm equiv telephoto. f5.6 subject was 20 meters away. iso 400

Let me guess, 500mm f4 * 1.4x teleconverter * 1.5 crop factor = 1050mm FOV.

 

What type of tripod/head did you use to steady your equipment? Did you use your camera's timer to trip the shutter, or did you just press the shutter button very gently?

 

P.S. Lovely shot. The shellfish makes this image.

photos were bracketed. 3 images per shutter release, .3 plus/minus. electronic shutter release plus luck.

I find this quite funny... rather than the clam/calm joke, it rather makes me think "What the heck am I going to do next ?!"

 

Nicely composed, the catchlight (is it natural?) in the gull's eye is a good added bonus to the shot.
