Maybe Zlatko had a little same kind of feelings as I have, don't know. This pic makes me feel very sorry for her. You had another pic of some other girl, maybe younger, she had a less rings. I don't know about karens life, if they are nowadays doing this torture "for tourists", or what. But I hope this kind of things would end. As a photo this is quite ok. But I cannot separate it from the contents...

Dear Elina. I agree with you in part, but they are not doing this for tourist. I had the possibility to visit a Karen's village out of the tourist route (off beneath the path) and this is their life style. I was talking with people from there (through my guide) and they are quite happy to be as they want. Of course, from our point of view (occidental lifestyle) this is a horrible thing for a little girl, but she was happy and she felt so pretty and proud to be photographed (look inside her eyes)... I was talking with them and they think that we are really crazy with our lifestyle, stress and those kind of things, and for example, they laughed a lot talking about occidental women's shoes... they think that this is a torture also.. Who is the one who has the reason? I think that no one of us.. Just simply have some respect for cultural things and don't try to judge from our point of view other cultures. ... I think this picture is outstanding! Their culture is beautiful and very interesting. Her eyes are soooo deep! She definitely doesn?t look unhappy, it?s just tradition/religion/culture.. . I think it?s very interesting and hopefully one day I will have an opportunity to travel to Thailand to view their lifestyle first hand.

 

I don?t thing I have ever seen someone with such beautiful eyes, she doesn?t have one red vein!
