markonestudios 4 Posted August 21, 2005 Experimenting with selective colouring again. What do you make of it?I prefer comments to ratings, but ideally, please do both.I'm looking to improve, as are we all I believe! So please oblige :)Thank you, and best regards from Kenya, Mark Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted August 21, 2005 And you've captured the Happiness on her face very well ... I especially like the bottom *11/16ths* of the image - the 'look' of the rose - the contrast between her and the background - nice toes too - (-; .. People are the weakest link in my photographic experience - so I will not be much help to you. However if I view this as a still-life, one thing I am teaching myself to be aware of - is the contrast relationship between objects and what lies behind them. If she were a still-life, I'd try to 'arrange' things so that here face and hair were positioned with a lighter background in this case. Either thru positioning of objects behind her or thru camera angle. After a short time of 'making' yourself think in this way - before you know it, you begin to think this way automatically. Hope there are some words in there worth remembering ...... Now that being said - I think you should go over there and drag that 500 kilo potted tree out of the way and re-shoot ......... Smile Also a large, floppy Pink hat would make a nice contrast with her skin and hair and is easier to manuver than a potted tree Always carry one of these with you - even if you have to wear it yourself -- Very Nice image Mark .... gavin martin 0 Posted September 2, 2005 I'm not a fan of the manipulation on this shot, it detracts and distracts you from the image Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Mark, I think you have a natural talent to capture people's best sides. For me this is not an easy thing to achieve, so I give you all the merit for that! When applying the blur effect to the background maybe you could pay more attention to the reality of the scene i.e. to make a selective bluring in a way that the area near the model's feet would be in focus and then gradually fading into the background blurriness. This effect can be done in PS using the 'feather' feature. Best regards! Link to comment
markonestudios 4 Posted September 5, 2005 Gavin, as with all forms of art, photography is bound to elicit a wide spectrum of opinions, but thank you for your candidness. Alexandre, I thought about that before I did this one, so I'll definitely give it a try...Thank you both for your comments. They are much appreciated. Link to comment
