Mike, either this rating game has gotten goofier than it was before, or maybe I have. I look at the 'top photos' and find that I don't even remotely like most of them. And then this gets average ratings, while I think its a beautiful picture with wonderful tones, light and mood, and a real sense of place. It does seem to have a slight tilt to the left, but that may be how the land lays.

I was just thinking the same thing, it has a little tilt to it. I'm sure it's not the lay of the land either, it's more like the lay of the photographer. The wind was about 50 mph about the time this was taken & I felt lucky to get anything that wasn't completely blurry.

 

As for the ratings, I think every one experiences those 2s & 3s that people like to throw out there. We just have to put up with it I guess. A few years ago, a low or high rating had to be accompanied by a comment. That was probably the way to go, but if you've ever read the feed back forum, it's full of whiners with new ideas, & so I suppose the moderators have to try to make everyone happy.

Mike this image lives very nicely in your body of work. It's a scene were all familiar with but you've composed it so well and captured a palette of colors that is subtle and powerful at the same time. The well positioned road drifting off to create the perfect dividing line and the marriage of fields and clouds competing for attention. It's an image I can stare at and admire for long periods.
