Patpong in Bangkok is a bustling 'night market' that has more than

just its numerous 'street vendor' stalls. Streetwise 'touts' often

hold cards describing the various 'sexual acts' portrayed on stage on

one side and 'drink prices' on the other, coyly turning

the 'interesting' side to men passing by, while women get to see the

drink prices. Your ratings and comments are invited and most

welcome. (If you rate harshly or very critically, please submit a

helpful and constructive comment/Please share your superior knowledge

to help improve my photography.) Thanks! Enjoy! John

This is the true color, under colored lights, of this 'street' scene, and as a result, no color 'adjustments' were made -- it was lit garishly.

Although a 'color correction' would eliminate the 'off' color, that would inaccurately present the photo -- this scene was designed by the upstairs bar owners to be garish, and appears to have accomplished that purpose.

People who run or work such establishments do extraordinary things to avoid being captured 'candidly' as here. I had just about a second to raise telephoto, frame and shoot before they turned, hid face and ruined any future photos -- it's a trick done worldwide from the sex districts of any major city -- Amsterdam, Frankfurt and even here in the notoriously open Bangkok.

Your criticism is well taken and entirely correct.

I wish I had the ability to frame it correctly instead of 'raise and shoot' as the scene disintegrates with their knowledge of my presence.

Thanks for your good comment.

This image is not an image I'm 'in love' with or feel strong emotions about, but it's an interesting subject with an interesting juxtaposition (the devil creature and the exaggerated statue, left, together with garish, colored lighting, helped make this provoking enough to post).

This photo was taken after dark, full frame in a 'night market' in Bangkok.

I was carrying two (or more) cameras, and had this 80~200 lens attached, so it was a simple matter to frame and shoot, even while allowing a short time to 'zoom'.

This points out how a lens with either V.R. or a fast (f 2.8) aperture, can allow a photograph under difficult, low-light circumstances.

Once these two 'girls' saw my camera, they turned away, and their looks were related to me with my cameras, thus destroying any chance of a future shot.

When photographing in 'sex' districts (this is a mixed tourist/sex district) one will rapidly notice that there is immense dislike for cameras among those who ply the 'sex trade', perhaps because the denizens of such dens of iniquity don't want unknowing parents who think they're 'secretaries' to learn of their true occupation (or the same for the neighbors who think they're just 'working nights' at some other occupation, and often care for their children in their absence).
