This is an experiment with over-exposure. No post manipulation in PS has been done besides desaturation & cropping. Please tell me what you think. Yea or nay?

I like them all but this one (and your caption) is an absolute winner for me. Not for technical reasons but because of the pose and expression of your model. Children are not easy subjects but shots like this one make it worth the effort. Great work as usual!

Jayme, awesome attitude in this shot. My only criticism is that I think you have perhaps burnt her cheek a little too much. other than that, spot on!

Thanks Warren, you're right about the cheek. It is a shadow from her arm cast falling across her face. The lighting set up is such that to create the even lighting through out, the subject shouldn't be leaning into or out of the light. Not a lot of latitude for error with this setup. Fat chance of that happening with this little one. She was moving & talking constantly. She reminds me of my own daughter at age 5. A real character to say the least! Abigail broke her arm the first day of kindergarden, she feel off the monkey bars! Figures! :) Her Mom & our daughter are best friends. The trouble those 2 could get into when they were young! It's payback time! :)

All of your high keys (and of course also your other pictures) are just great. This one I like best - not for technical reasons but for her pose and expression.

Thanks Renate. This is my favorite followed by "I'm Five" :) This really imparts her personality to the viewer. She's a character, even at 5. Defiantly has a leader personality, not a follower:) I like that very much!

This is wonderful, maybe more than wonderful. Maybe no words do this image justice. Just look and enjoy and say wow!

My Granddaugher has a cast on the same arm. Looks close to the same age. I think I'll share.

Ohhhhh yeah. This is a definite Yea. Great high key stuff. Perfect crop, wonderfull exposure. A bit of a shadow on her cheek on the right side. Not a big distraction.

Her expression is priceless. What a sweetheart!

MM- yeap, the shadow needs attention. Also need to attend to the over-exposure of the left side a tad.

Since I just returned to work, I have been slowly, but surely, ticking away at what I left unfinished. Abigail is one of the unfinished jobs. This next week is devoted to Abbey! She is a real character! Little did I know that about 1 week after I took these images, I would fall & break MY arm :) I can only say, I think her expression captures exactly how I felt! Pissed! LOL

MM- I took this 8-15-05, broke my arm 9/2/04. Finally after 6 months & 2 surgeries (one bone graft & a long steel plate with 7 screws) I'm healed! Yahoo!!!!! I'd do a few cartwheels but..... I think not! LOL Pure Hell! Since it's behind me I can say honestly, I hated it! I tried very hard to find something positive & have, but I think I could have learned that lesson a lot easier another way :) Maybe.... from a book? LOL

Thanks Jason, glad you like it.

She's what I think of as my perfect little girl. Rough as any boy her age, but absolutely smart & beautiful. A bubbly, nonstop personality that just doesn't cease to surprise, with eyes that tell volumes. Way, way too cute! I wish she was my grand-daughter, but she's not! She reminds me for the world of my own daughter at this age. She is the daughter, of my daughter's, best friend in high school.
