These big, noisy moths are not seen in the UK and were quite alarming

the first time we saw them in the south of France. They were not easy

to photograph and I couldn't get them with my Finepix 6900z or using

the 70-200 f4 on the 20D. What do you think of this?

We had one of these in our front garden the other afternoon but at first, I did not know what it was. I didn't photograph it though as I was to intrigued and thought by the time it would take me to fetch and prepare my camera, it would have gone. Don't think I had seen one before. After some checking on the internet, I have discovered that if you have their favourite flowers(Honeysuckle)in your garden, they remember and continue to re-visit about the same time of day to feed. I haven't seen it return yet. Hope he is still OK.

Spot on DOF, and how cool a moth is this? The orangy colours pop up well against the soft complementary colour of the lavender. A tighter crop would put even more emphasis on this and remove some of the rust tones in the background.
