I walked around the area of old Warsaw Ghetto. This is a monument of

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising - "The Ghetto heroes monument". The pigeons

don't really know history. They just feel comfortable there.

Appreciate opinions.

I read a story by Isaiah Shapiro entitled "Bread," which he wrote when he was imprisoned in the Lodz Ghetto. In "Bread" or 'Broyt," a family lived, starving, in a cramped, dilapidated, bare apartment in the Lodz Ghetto. There was one room that once used to hold pigeons that flew freely around inside and outside, symbols of freedom and hope. In the biblical story of Noah and the flood, the dove (a type of pigeon) carries a branch of hope. Your photograph here, including the sculpture at the Warsaw Ghetto and the pigeon above with the man almost looking for something above (salvation?) reminds me of both stories. Your photograph is documntary and captures an archetype. Only here, as in what really happened, the harbinger of freedom and hope is looking away.
