National Library by Night

I have a request for this image by night from Amar Khoday after

taking the daylight version. Enjoy.

I must try this someday... the moon came out magically!

Excellent night photograph. Very sharp, bright, colorful and high DOF (may be due to very small aperture). But details are fantastic inspite of ISO 500 setting. The size of the moon appears to be large, is it so at Singapore?

Gul, Dilip, I am quite surprised with the Nikon D70 as the resolution looks good even with ISO 500 setting. (disproving many naysayers)

 

I used 140mm setting for the moon at F4 1/500 sec and merged it in. That's why it looks larger. During moonrise the moon will also appear larger but as it goes higher it tend to be smaller. This pull also affects the sea level. Thanks for coming by.

A reasonable effort, no doubt. But if you want to display the architecture of the library, shouldn't you put more of it in the frame (instead of fake moons which are distracting and nonsensical)?

Joao, I guess you didn't read the details and comments. The moon was enlarged to give it significance and aesthetics.

 

JOINT1MK. So you registered in PN to criticize only. Fair enough, there are many out there who hide in the shadows as well. Wouldn't it be better to ask why only a third of the National Library is shown? I would have told you that further right is all white wall - not interesting to show and the moon is depicted to balance the image but of course that wouldn't interest a person like you.

Humm as well as other said , i prefer this one to the day shot ! Great details and good composition with the diagonal road, seems to separate this picture in two sides, the bright side and the dark side... Sounds like Star wars is'nt it :) ... Well done Alec

Alec, very well done! Would love to see how big the "real" moon would feature in this image. It is pretty interesting how people tend to believe the moon is actually bigger than it really is. Personally, I find it rather scary when its this big. Looks as if it was taken from some science fiction movie. Janik
