Went to see the Moving Wall. The sky cried tears forged from human thoughts, and like the sea spreading its fingers to touch the land, I found myself emersed in the light of dawn.

Great shot that says it all. Seeing this on a computer doesn't do the shot justice, it should be seen large to get the whole effect.Nice simple shot.

Thnks, Sarah and Howard. It is always a challenge to find a unique perspective. Obviously raters did not think it was....

Some moments are very personal, and I for one am glad for this symbol of our sacrifaces, all the names of young men and ladys (8 in all) that gave there lives. Standing before this gave me a chill, and reading my friends name gave me pause, I made a promise to enjoy each day but never forget my mates listed there on that wall of sorrows.

This image says it all for me, and for that thank you.

Roger, this is one picture I will not delete due to ratings. I feel it is a strong image, and it says what I wanted. Thanks for seeing this....

I am not allowed to rate any of your images a 7 for the next 14 days because you rated one of mine with a 7. This is a ridiculus rule. I am forced to rate a 6/6. What happens when an image should be rated a 7?

there's a rule you cant rate a 7 to someone who gave you a 7? cripeees. Very moving photo.

Linda: I saw this shot and got it also in your e-mail - as noted by others it's a very moving shot and really well executed. The Wall was on the green here in East Haven only a couple of months ago and I got a few shots but none nearly as good as this. Thank you..

Hans...a play on words as we know. It moves from town to town, but also moves those who see it. My intent was to prominently showcase the names. The black band above could also represent a black armband of mourning, and the sky appropriately rained tears on it.

The flag, out of focus?....well you can interpret.

Linda, We will never forget. A very evocative image. Agree with Sarah, this needs to be very large on my wall.

you can share my rating.

Linda

A great photograph stands alone without explanation and evokes a response from those who view it. You have achieved those and more here. This is an exemplary work of photojournalism IMHO. The PhotoNet rating system was not designed to measure such as this. Regards.

I make images for myself....and it brings me great joy to share them with all of you. Those who have come to know me understand my way of looking at things, and have learned to appreciate my point of view. It makes it all worthwhile to be here. Thank you.

I should also like to mention that I like the precision of the crop on this photograph. Along the left edge the names are intact without truncation. As most of us read from left to right this careful attention to detail is appreciated. It reinforces a feeling of respect when viewing this. Regards.

I am trying to get caught up after my summer travels. This is a wonderful image, Linda! There is just enough of the blue of the flag showing for my taste! I'm also glad that you captured some of the names clearly.

Linda I recently went to see our Australian equivalent. It was hard for me to describe the experience let alone photograph it.

You have taken a wonderful photograph here and it is hard to comment further than that except some photographs touch our soul. Just great.

When I visited the 1914-1918 war cemeteries in Belgium I too was moved and made to think about issues of war and sacrifice. The individuals who died were not my direct kin nor from my time. But I'm glad their names are not forgotten and maybe, by being remembered, will influence our future.
