aepelbacher 0 Posted August 9, 2005 I was surprised at how large these birds were, and how fearless they were. I was very close to this one, and he barely acknowledged that I was there, snapping away. The funny thing about these storks in Hunswihr ... well, maybe not so funny ... is where they built their nests. :-) What a mess!! I'm making a trip to the National Zoo in Washington, DC one day next week. Any tips about animal photography in general would be very useful for me. Thanks! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted August 9, 2005 Both shot are really good. I don't know what I'd do if those guys nested on my red roof. Probably go nuts and do nothing. Link to comment

wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 10, 2005 . . . at least it's be easy to clean. All you have to do is to change the litter box in the fireplace every morning! Looks like a real fun trip, Lou Ann. ^_^ Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 11, 2005 Nicely caught! I think doing anything about storks (except take their picture) is supposed to be a very bad thing. The square crop works well. Link to comment
dens 4 Posted September 15, 2005 cool you must of had trouble getting so close. i like the light on its back. well done. i am surprised you have commented on my malay dancer? ....:) Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted September 16, 2005 Thanks Denis ... the birds hardly moved while I was approaching them. It was almost weird. They were just big and lazy. I've just about finished my second week of the new school year and I've been exhausted. This is the latest I've been up in a few weeks. I'll get onto a better schedule and be more consistent! Promise! :-) Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted June 29, 2006 The stork is the symbol of the Alsace region. This species needs protection, as these beautiful birds end their migration in Alsace and are fewer and fewer. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted June 29, 2006 Well, Laurent, it looks like he has a tag on his leg. I wonder how these birds are being tracked... Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted July 4, 2006 I think they must be coming back to the same place every year, so they can check them out! Link to comment
