wow. what can I say more except perfect textures and geometry and harmony daer JimDali!

Maybe one suggestion: to clone out this metalic point on right upper corner!?! it is one too much :)

But otherwise. perfect tones and what a beautiful glass structure/texture and I like very much how you are pointing on the man from the fasade of the building. wow. what angle daer Jim!

This is, indeed, the apex of the Pei glass pyramid. There is a point about mid-way through the Rue de Rivoli passage to the Louvre, where the apex of the pyramid aligns with the peak of the roof facade across the courtyard, yielding this juxteposition of architectural styles, technologies, and sentiments.

Wonderful color, textures, & geometric composition. The variety of the different surfaces & contextual information truly enhances the image. While i initially agreed with Baliana's comment regarding the far right cone upon the roof, and eliminating it, which would create a balanced symetry, I now have mixed feelings as I believe it does give just the right touch of asymetry (although it is perhaps just a touch to close to the edge of the image).

Very fine image in so many ways.

Yes, Felix. In years past I've only visited this courtyard at night wearing roller blades. This year I went during the day, wore shoes and took a camera. Guess that's called getting old!

Gary, Biliana: This image -- and the "Reflections III" that you commented on, Biliana -- is destined for my "Quick Takes" folder in which I'm only putting "unmanipulated" images. Otherwise, since this image is really all about symmetry, I would be very tempted to clone away that distracting little piece of roof hardware. I suppose I could have achieved the same result with a slightly tighter crop, but going to this squarish format from the original vertical image already demanded some fairly drastic cropping.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm honored that you've taken the time to visit and critique. --jim

Jim, I would like to complement you on this idea. There have been so many images of the Louvre pyramid, but this is truly original and appealing.

Old vs. new, Jim, it is impossible to come to these cities ,and not see the change of time. The point of view is perfect. Pnina

This one works on multiple levels. First off, I love the muted warm colors. compositionally, the geometric shapes defined by both line and color work splendidly. And, as Pnina pointed out, this is a great combination of old and new elements. A beautiful and refreshing view of an often photographed subject.

CAme back to look at this again, Jim. So well seen. The three textural planes compliment each other well, as do the color tones. Thank you for sharing these unmanips with us....
