Guest Guest Posted August 7, 2005 Another well composed shot. The gate jutting out at a diagonal catches the eye and moves it into and up the frame. The arms spiraling out at the top add a nice graphic touch. That this isn't completely centered is critical. I also like your shadow self portrait! It's nice to have a bit of Bob in the picture. As in the other photo, there's an eerie emptiness in this photo despite all the visual elements. I hope you had fun at the fair. Go on any rides? Link to comment
jana 1 Posted August 7, 2005 Robert, great sober shot . I find documentary photo's the most difficult ones , but for you it is a piece of cake. Good composition, also the exposure time chosen gives us the motion and the evening mood, everything just fine. jana Link to comment
mjerabek 0 Posted August 7, 2005 A good one. Seems like "merry-go-round" became a sort of classical topic. From technical point of view I wonder why it was necessary to "sandwich" it. The foreground was too dark? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 8, 2005 I forgot how to do links but I think you might like this folder. http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=397962 In regards to yours- it clearly has your touch, the tones and emptiness. I think the tones you pick seem to portray a sense of emptiness and/or loneliness. Knicki Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted August 8, 2005 I really like your 'fair' shots. I like the man standing in this one...adds just a litle bit more to this great shot! Well done. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted August 10, 2005 Jana and Sarah, thanks for your nice comments. Laurie, occasionally I like to make my presence known. Michal, I've been fooling around with this "look" for the past few weeks--I thought it might work for a series of these. In the end, it may be too much of a gimmick. I'm still working it out. Knicki, thanks for the link--some of the photos in his portfolio are really terrific. Tri-X and Leica are a great combo for shooting night shots. Link to comment
