Guest Guest Posted August 7, 2005 Bob, This is very well done! I like the diagonal created by the spinning ride (not sure what this one is called). The shadows cast by the low light, while subtle also add nicely to the composition and reinforce the sense of motion. While I like the color of the tone, I find myself wondering if desaturating or perhaps some levels adjustment might give this a little more punch. It's hard to know without seeing it. The areas of sharpness and motion blur are perfectly placed in the composition. This image has an eerie feel to it (in a good way, artistically). While there are a few figures on the far left, there are no other people visible. Though I'm sure there are riders, they're not obvious. The message I get is a once thriving community event now discarded in favor of video games, mall excursions etc. It's like a view of what will soon be the distant past. I don't know if that makes any sense. Perhaps just looking at this has made me dizzy. Link to comment
pdoyle 0 Posted August 7, 2005 Funny to see this here tonight ... I just tried to make a good shot of a local carnival ride today, but had not nearly the success you had. The great sense of speed and motion, and the diagonal lines, work very well. Excellent work. Link to comment
domenicopescosolido 0 Posted August 7, 2005 Very nice shot, you are right with the time exposure, the movement is excellent here even if the sepia tone is too strong for my taste. A very good job. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted August 10, 2005 Laurie, Philip, Bob, and Domenico--thanks for your nice comments. I thought the blur was about right. Not sure yet about the tone. Link to comment
