sondra kick 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Nice catch, in my opinion, I would crop the left side. Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted January 7, 2006 This is a wonderful capture and composition. The point of focus and dof is good. The angle of the land behind the buck, and the blurred light flowers or seed pods in the foreground add to the image. I tried applying warmer color balance to the image. Also added a little more unsharp mask. What do you think? (I have no doubt that the color temperature on the original was cool as you have it here, but I sort of liked it warm too.) -s Link to comment
msoskil 0 Posted January 7, 2006 S Spencer,I do like the picture a bit warmer as you have edited it, but I think the edit had a bit too much sharpening. Thank you for your kind comments, and for taking the time to offer suggestions. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted January 8, 2006 I respectfully disagree with Spence and Sondra. Don't crop the left half because that will center the buck, and that would loose the effective rule of thirds you have going on already. The warming technique is somewhat of a good idea but then it makes the deer look fake and plastic. I think it's fine as is, in my opinion. Link to comment
msoskil 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Thanks for the kind words, Will. Attached is the picture with a little warming, and no sharpening. It's actually the version that I like best. Should have spent a bit more time in PS before uploading, I guess. I agree with you about the composition. I like the deer off-center, which is why I composed it that way in the original shot.
