Sunrise at Tiny Marsh

LenMarriott

The second of three shots taken than morning before the batteries in my Bronica froze up. 80mmPS, 1/8 @ f16 (or thereabouts), MLU, tripod & cable release. Best, LM.

An improved (I hope) repost. 80mmPS, 1/8 @ f 16, tripod, MLU, cable

release. The low contrast film helped maintain detail throughout

with even the orb of the sun peeking through. Not being a fan of

oversaturated photos the subtle colours in this one suit me fine.

Best, LM.

Perhaps a better image may have been captured had the photographer waited for the sun to illuminate the foreground which is rather flat.

David, Good point, but the photographers extremities were becoming numb & he was in a hurry to get back to his nice warm car :-) Best, LM.

CJ, It was certainly clear that morning & exceedingly cold. Always a pleasure to hear from you. By the way, this was in fact Portra 400 UC as stated in the tech details. When I said it was a low contrast film I was thinking that I had shot it on Portra 400 NC, a lower contrast film I used later in the day. My mistake! Best, LM.

a nice winter scene indeed. i do, however, find that the composition includes too many distracting elements. in particular the bridge on the right hand side. i also am left wishing that foreground vegetation were organized into a few more dynamic lines. just my 2 cents, but it sure is nice seeing some more Canadian winter scenes.

Andrew, I really appreciate your stopping by and taking the time to comment. My old version had the bridge cropped out. Guess I had it right the first time. A few diagonal lines would indeed have helped but this is what was there and the best I could hope for was that the vegetation would break up an otherwise boring expanse of foreground snow. That I think it does. Winter scenes from any country are a cooling sight to the eye in the heat and drought of summer. Having scanned your posts to check your credentials I feel your critique has some teeth. Does this alterante crop help? Many thanks. Best, LM.

Len, nice winter image, I don't have something like that....

beautiful reflection, I like the begining of sun rise in the bg. and the vegetation in the fg are not a distraction IMO as in their form they are a nice varaiety to the stright line of bg trees. the only thing imo is to clone out the black part in the upper right hs. I wish I could be there....

enjoyed the corner Len. Pnina
