Where is this?

Hi Matthew, this is on the Kankakee river at the State Park. I wouldn't usually get close to this tree but the river is as low as I've ever seen it & you can walk in places that would normally be under water. This is on the rt 113 side just upstream from the mouth of Rock Creek.

Awesome shot!! Love the texture and grain, and how the shadows dissapear up into mysterious black at the top. Great mood and composition too, its like a small world on its own. Ignore these people rating 3 (what the?!?!) Big kudos!

Thanks Jay, I appreciate that. I saw this while I was out fishing & came back to get it. The pattern is what caught my eye at first. This is a very defiant tree. The roots come right out of the stone.

VERY powerful! Impressive textures that build a strong 'character for this image. I imagine a fine print of this one, with an appropriate frame.

Is this a fairly wide lens? I really get the feeling of the roots and rocks surging towards me.
