sicliff 0 Posted August 2, 2005 great image Sondra, just wonder if the sky reflected in the water running to the top left is a little bright ? its the thing thats catching my eye when I look at it Would love some info on how you get this effect, its a lot like infra red film Si Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Si Cliff, at the present time, I am using an old digital Nikon Coolpix 950 with a Hoya R72 filter for infrared. Neat Image is probably the effect you are talking about. This camera is only 2 megapixels and there is some noise; Neat Image takes care of it. Hope I have answered your questions. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted August 2, 2005 OOOH MY, what a shot, just plain terrific, Sondra....I'm thinking about Si's comment about the small bright area. My thought is that since all the foreground is in the shade of clouds, therefore the distant cloud's reflection in the water, would be just as bright as if the near area were in full sun....This is getting to be a long thought....Anyway there might be a positive effect to burning in the clouds reflection, just a little. Really to me, it's fine, since it is I expect it to be....Now aren't you glad I got on here today?....Jim Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 2, 2005 Jim and Si, this photo was taken in bright sunlight, no shade. I darkened the clouds to make them more dramatic and lightened the foreground somewhat. Sunny 16 day, great for IR shooting. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 2, 2005 I really like the two different color toning effects. I don't know the first thing about IR photography, so I don't know if you do that in-camera or post-processing on your computer. But it's great whatever! :-) Super image! Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted August 3, 2005 Well Sondra, Congradulations on such a fine job of controling your subject. It certainly me believing the whole lower 2/3 was in the shade of clouds. Still a wonderful piece of work....Jim Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 3, 2005 Thanks to everyone for taking time to comment on my work. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
James Kazan 17 Posted August 4, 2005 Sondra Seeing excellent work like this makes me what to run out a buy the expensive Hoya IR filter that I priced. The tonal quality of this capture blows me way for lack of a better adjective. Jim Link to comment
jon thornton 0 Posted August 5, 2005 I really like the textures and lines in this shot. I also particularly like the fact that you have produced competitive results using a really old digital camera. You have certainly proved the old saying that "cameras don't take photos, people do". Well done. Link to comment
jon thornton 0 Posted August 5, 2005 I've just realized that I said almost the same thing about one of your other photos. Oh well, at least one of us (not me) has some imagination! Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted August 6, 2005 Thanks, James, Tony and Jon for your comments on my photo. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
