boughey 0 Posted July 26, 2005 Too much contrast? No way, I love high contrast b&w, especially of bleached beach wood. A great photo with plenty of interest! Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted July 26, 2005 Drift wood generally looks better with more contrast. Like Adrian said, it gets that bleached look. Your highlights are OK, so I would say the contrast is fine. Should have pulled out the 4x5 for this one, you have no excuse, lol! I find that oblong rock in the left corner plays a fairly large role. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 27, 2005 Bob, There's not too much contrast. As Paolo already stated, a "classic B&W". They're always a pleasure to view. The sweep of the clouds worked out nicely here. I wish Aaron hadn't mentioned that rock. Otherwise, I wouldn't have noticed it. It is a bit strange how it commands some attention. I hope you shot some frames of the gnarly drift wood behind the stump as well. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 27, 2005 Robert, I'm with Aaron on this one. It's a great shot taken on the wrong medium. It's the sort of shot that would tempt me to a larger format. It's funny how a pebbly beach can arrange itself for you so that the pebbles form such wonderful lines. My only nit, and a very minor one, is that I would like to have seen the nearest trunk beneath the distant hills. Link to comment
