hiro_aki 0 Posted July 24, 2005 I like the composition, color and DOF ofthis picture. The white petals are overexposed. Also in my monitor I see too muchsaturation and see quite a bit of data loss. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted July 24, 2005 Hiro, it is done on purpose. I am using a method to change the photographs, it is called impressionistic. This method may result in a loss of data in the bright and dark areas. The original photo has all the data. jana Link to comment
chapmanwr 0 Posted July 25, 2005 Jana, you mention "the impressionistic approach" I'd be interested in more information about your technique. I can see it on several different layers or ways of achieving. Nice work and good interpretation. Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted September 18, 2005 Jana, I like what you've done here. Did you use a mask layer to acheive the selective DOF with blurring? Have you tried isolating one of the channels (R,G, or B), placing the original layer on top, boosting the saturation, merging color, and then backing off the opacity to 15-25% (or it becomes too saturated)? By starting with just one of the channels, you can selectively reduce or enhance textural details present in the original leaving an ethereal presence simiar to what you have acheived here. jana 1 Posted September 18, 2005 Ken, No, I was using my own method derived from the analog photography, as I used that with slides as well. I am just 3 month on digital and I must admit, that with slides the result was more striking. You can see that in my other pictures. Thanks Ken. jana Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted September 25, 2005 Jana - You were doing this with film? Fascinating! I've used a thin smear of Vasoline on a clear glass filter many years ago, but never acheived anything quite like this. Mister Ken Link to comment
jana 1 Posted September 25, 2005 Ken, I was using more slides to achieve that, no filters, cheers Jana Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted February 22, 2006 Nice composition and crisp blues and greens with spots of pinks. I like the effect of blown out detail, though I would prefer if the whites were truely white, as it seems right now you took out the detail and then tried to find it again, leaving shadows. Nevertheless, I still get the bright cheerful feeling of summer, which proves this was a successful image. Link to comment
