Hi Bill, thanks for your latest visit. I haven't been active much in the latest months, and it's a pity.

As for this picture I like very much the tile pattern closep, which somehow drops you right into scene, heading down into the heat of this special city. It is noteworthy that the typical photo-features of napoli are not appearing in this view!

On the esthetical side my only observation is that the green bushes on the left might be done without, a wider view of the background would give better balance to the bright/dark proportions of the photo.

"See Naples and die" used to be a comment about the beauty of

Naples, truly one of the great cities of Europe, not a comment on

its problems as it is sometimes used today. This is taken from the

Vomero, a central hill in the center of town. This street actually

runs (once you get off the hill) in a perfectly straight line across

the town, hence it's name "Spaccanapoli" or "Cuts Naples." From

here, one can count the domes of about 25 of Naples' more than 150

churches. The mountains at the back are rarely visible due to haze

(maybe ten days a year) and I've never seen clouds like those at the

base before or since.

Hi Bill. I've come back to enjoy your colourful images of Italy. The textured stone slabs work well as a platform for enjoying the view down the hill. It is all the more enhanced by the contrast of the colourful and sunny scene down below, particularly that gorgeously red roof in the foreground. The little bit of colour reflected off the door and metal plate on the side of the building on the right give just enough warmth to this otherwise cool and shaded area. Thanks again for your view of Naples.

This place is very near to where my father lives (not in the street, anyway!). original point of view, bravo...nice colours. Nostalgia...
