davidmccracken 2 Posted July 22, 2005 Just a bit of fun! Feedback appreciated on this or any of my work. Link to comment
robert simpson 0 Posted July 22, 2005 Original, appropriate model. Face looks a touch fuzzy. Maybe remove the bruise from her thigh. See Attached (a quick job) Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted July 22, 2005 I like it a lot. I have to agree with the slight focus problem on the face. The bruise is a part of the lovely lady and I am not in the habit of PS work with that sort of thing. I look forward to more work with her. -Owen Link to comment
teru 0 Posted July 22, 2005 Did you do any shots with her reading the magazine? I know it's more playful for her to be looking at the camera, but maybe a front angle with her head down and eyes looking up, with a "Don't bother me while I'm reading" kind of expression. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 22, 2005 While I agree the face is a bit soft, I really like this one. The warm colored floor, stark white wall and teal suitcase create an interesting color pallete. Aside from the obvious (humor, pose, etc.), it's that bright orange sticker that makes this shot for me. Something tells me that was intentional and for that, I applaud you. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted July 23, 2005 Robert, Thanks for taking the time and effort for sharing your thoughts with me. I thought about removing the bruise but life is full of imperfections and I don't like hiding what is natural. You are correct though, removing the bruise would make it more aesthetic. I am not sure what happened with the softness on the face. It looks OK on the full size TIF but I am willing to accept that the focus may have been on the edge. I have uploaded another picture of her face from the same photoshoot. Thanks a lot! Owen, Kind as always. Most of what I would say to you has been said in my reply to Robert. All I can add is thank you for your continual support. It is very much appreciated! Jamie, Thanks for making me smile. Teru, The answer to your question is, "NO!"This is unfortunate. Your suggestion will just have to remain in my thoughts...... unless I try it with a differnt model and suitcase tomorrow...... Thanks for the idea. I will give you credit should I succeed! Alex, I think that means you like it. Good to know you stopped by! Laurie, Kind words Laurie! I like this one myself. "The orange sticker...." Of course it was deliberate....... you believe me don't you? Seriously, the sticker and its placement is down to the airline that lost my luggage. Who said losing your luggage was a bad thing! Thanks everyone! I hope you like this cropped version from the same session! Link to comment
John Peri 1,027 Posted July 24, 2005 David, what distinguishes your nudes for me, other than the graphiques, is that there is only the essential in the picture, no background clutter to confuse or support the message, whichever the case may be. It is an admirable approach, but one which implies setting up the scenario in minute detail. I appreciate the control that this approach gives over the result. I wonder, and this photo is not an example, if there is not a loss of spontaneity in the result, but that is for each artist to explore. Ultimately, I think it is an excellent thing that someone finds his own approach and I certainly do recognise a picture of yours when I see it in thumbnail. People complain at me sometimes at the repetition. Actually, it is done on purpose. It helps to define a style and you most certainly have yours. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted July 24, 2005 John, You are often kind on many of my photos but I think even you have gone too far this time. I thank you for that anyway. Firstly, you have a passion for the people you photograph and that is seen in your work. Maybe (and I am one who does not agree) your work is repetative but it sure is real. Because of this, along with your seemingly infinite supply of beautiful women, they are always a joy to behold. Secondly, It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well! I am only looking for one or two. I like to think of myself as a person that photographs words. The title usually comes before the photograph. I cannot argue with any of what you say. I agree with it. One thing we have in common is that we care for the models we photograph. I think this is important. They are always the more important than the photographer. In all honesty John, all I want to do is have some fun. Sometimes I take serious issues and put them in the face of the viewer and leave it for them to mak the decision if I am joking or making a point. The above comments just don't flow and do not fully express what I am trying to say. I am finding it difficult to respond to your comment. I am flattered. Maybe I should just say thanks! THANKS! Guest Guest Posted November 5, 2005 David, I see this as a sad but accurate commentary on what we must do in order to get through airport security these days. However, they will still search her bag...... Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 5, 2005 I really don't like your remark! I should have thought about it first!!!!! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Well you can always complain to Brian and he will delete it in a month or so...... Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 7, 2005 I just read my first response to you again and it doesn't read the same way it was meant. What I meant was, I am annoyed that I didn't get the airport security connection before you. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 7, 2005 David, no problem. I realize you speak English, I speak American. Link to comment
