Flottans Män = Men of the Navy. Its a group of people that has worked in the Navy (all sorts of work on the sea) that sing together. They had a show today and i was asked to take a few photos. I got a few good portraits and group portraits while they sang. Hope you enjoy it. No crop, Handheld.1/400 sec - F/5, 400 Iso, 200mmRegards,Patrick J

> In 1954 the late, world class photographer, Yousuf Karsh took a photo of the famed cellist Pablo Casals in what appears to be a small room. Karsh took the shot from behind Casals, over his right shoulder as he sat and solemnly played his cello. The image is photography extraordinaire. (Copies sell for six to seven thousand dollars, US.)

A young man stopped at the gallery every afternoon and went to that picture and silently gazed at it for extended periods of time. Overcome by the ritual, the curator approached the visitor and asked him what so fascinated him about this one piece of art. The young man quickly and softly replied, "Shhh! Can't you hear the music?"

Your image of these naval singers quickly brought Karsh's image to mind. It is almost alive with sound. I don't know what others will think of this portrait; but for me, it is as good as they get...in this sort of category of course.

Color scheme is simiple (basically three); placement of the foreground singer is on target. On my monitor the skin tone is a bit red.

I am 54 years old and have been a musician all my life. Again, I will tell you, this image is alive with not only sound, but the emotional vim of the moment. This is the first pic of yours I've seen...came to it via the Rate Recent page. Your image gives complete meaning to the addage "a picture is worth a thousand words."

I stated this is the first image of yours I've seen. I'd forgotten your name and upon opening your view all thumbnail page, I remember commenting on one of the ship images and your old watchtower pictures, especially the textures. :-)

Thanks for the comeback. I've made numerous attempts to rate this pic and have just now rebooted and tried again. All I get is "Rating Insert Failed." :-(

I'll get back to it soon enough and give you the top marks.

Patrick, I have tried almost every day and sometimes twice in the day to rate this image and continue to get the failed insert page. I never get it on any other images. This week I built a new pc with all or most of the bells and whistles and set it up for high speed connection and different IP number. "Surely this will get thejob done!" Well, it didn't. My wife teaches school and next week I'll try from her pc when I take her over for a teacher's work day and do some errands of my own. If I fail with that, I'll assume it has to do with my handle...some kind of PhotoNet glitch. I know it's not the end of the wolrd; but I did promise to try and I'll continue as long as I think there's some chance I can get it done.
