mbalzan 0 Posted July 21, 2005 I have tried the impact of negative space on this innocent expression of faith in his father. I would appreciate any feedback on this. Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted July 21, 2005 You have captured that boy's bewilderment and he certainly seems overwhelmed by the action of the adult, and almost pleading. Good image. Marco Ruggiero Link to comment
kristen riley 0 Posted July 21, 2005 Very nice image. The use of space is great. I like that the adult fills most of the frame; helps the viewer to relate to how the child must feel--very small. The expression on the child's face shows intimidation and the image communicates this well. Nice job! Link to comment
dave_klassen 0 Posted July 22, 2005 A gripping image! I might have used the word "fear" rather than faith. As others have suggested there seems to be an expression of uncertainty in the child's face. The hands of the man, in the context of "bewilderment" could be doing something aggressive. Good photo! Link to comment
martino_balestreri 0 Posted July 22, 2005 Mi piace molto questa foto colta al volo, istantanea! Il viso del bimbo mi lascia senza parole! ciao. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 22, 2005 Mario, that is realy impressive, looks to me as well that the child is in fear, and the hands are not haveing a soft look. Interesting to know the circumstances you have taken that image.Pnina Link to comment
mbalzan 0 Posted July 23, 2005 Thanks everyone for the comments. The occasion was way back in February, Carnival time in Malta. The child`s expression just caught my eye. Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted August 1, 2005 It really does grab your attention, but I wondered about your title before, if it is faith, or fear! Nevertheless, I really like the photo ~ the contrast of the hands, and face and the dark clothing, and even the figure in the space between, is clear, precise and adds to the photo. thanks, much. beautiful moment of a child's expression. jimmcnitt 0 Posted August 8, 2005 Hi Mario: This is a powerful and dramatic "decisive-moment" image. On the faith v. fear issue, if I crop out everything but the boy's face, then it's easy to interpert his expression as one of unconditional acceptance and even wonderment. But as soon as the looming presence of the dark jacket and big hands become visible, then it's easy to see his expression as one of apprehension. Actually, in terms of the impact of this image, I don't think it matters. What I take away from this is a fresh look at the relationship between young child and an adult who can inspire both awe and fear depending on the circumstances. The beauty and the power of your image is that you succeed in doing something that is exceedingly rare -- you give us the chance to glimpse the world through the eyes of a child, if only for a fleeting moment. --jim Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Just to say again and again how much I enjoy looking at this photo . . . I didn't know how to do links before, but I also like this image for the capture of the expression of the child in the face of the adult.Greetings.Mel. Link to comment
