mark_j_james 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Hi there, I like the interesting angle. Is a photo of the stage with the band added in. Theres alot for the eye to play in. My only thought is that if you want to take B&W, either get some good filters for the camera (Red or Yellow would have sorted out the sky) or if you are shooting digi and converting to B&W there are better ways to convert so you dont need to burn in so much of the sky. The paint brush mask doesnt work well here in my opinion, as it makes the poles, and the sides of the image stand out due to the increased contrast there caused by the haloing effect. Nina Anderson has a great tut on how to convert to B&W on her site http://www.eyesondesign.net/pshop/bw/converting_to_bw.htmwhich I have personally found quite handy. Using this technique you could make the sky darker, but not nessarilly the stage. Just my 2cents. I would have rated it higher then 4/4 if the halos were not there. Keep shooting the interesting angles! Mark Link to comment
goulden 0 Posted October 19, 2005 not much point telling him about ways to manipulate in Photoshop, he's one of those old fashioned 'film' shooters as for the picture, i do like it but not as much as many others of yours. the monitor in the bottom right is very large in the picture and makes it just a little too cluttered for my tastes. for the music that wilco perform, cluttered is a very good thing so maybe it's good if you know the band Link to comment
mark_j_james 0 Posted October 20, 2005 Hi, I am sorry. Normally I check further into someones folio before making comment, to see what effect they were after. It makes sence now. Please disregard my earlier comments, and keep shooting excellent images! Mark Link to comment
