hugh_hill 0 Posted July 14, 2005 Please if you wish to rate my images with low marks please could you tell me what is wrong or how in your opinion I can improve on it. 'Da-Da' is an art & design studio cafe in the heart of the 'Old City' in Genova, very close to the 'Piazza De Ferrari'. (A few minutes walk from the shop you can see the tiny medieval bank which was also a jail it was here in 1298 that Marco Polo dictated the story about his travels in Asia.) The Shops exterior blends in well with the old style yet once you enter you find it has been transformed into wonderfully modern art studio come Cafe Library which houses works of art for furnishings and has always an exhibition on view. I would recommend anyone planning on going to Genova to visit this especially those with a passion for art and design, architecture and good company and if you should go say Hi! BTW Dada (or Dadaism) is related to an international nihilistic movement that supposedly started with European artists occuring between 1915 to 1922. came into effect due to the artists disillusionment with life possibly as a result of the first world war, said to have originally kicked off in Zurich by the Romanian poet Tristan Tzara. Dada was basically giving the birdie (one fingerd salute!) attacking the conservative values of aesthetics and performance in art and so instead choosing to emphasize a meaninglessness disorder. I am not 100% sure if I nailed it but would like to here more from others out there what they think. Regards Link to comment
reddoor 0 Posted July 14, 2005 I don't know anything about the artistic movement you are chasing but I think you have taken a very good photograph. Great composition, tone and clarity. 6/6 Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted July 17, 2005 Could also be called "Looking for Dada". For some reason I think of a single mom when I view this one. Nice detail and depth, Hugh. Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted July 19, 2005 Very good capture and composition, Hugh. During the '70s and '80s I read enough about Dadaism. One of my favorite books about Dadaism is "Dada Documents" by Ida Rodriguez Prampolini and Rita Eder. Dadaism is a quite interesting subject, Hugh. Link to comment
