the texture of the surface on which the dragonfly is resting, and the color of the surface, the selective focus also. May have been even better if dof included the wings? Nice, balanced composition by positioning the subject in an aesthetic position within the frame, and by the falloff to darker tones in the upper left.

And yes, of course, the apparent 'expression' on this bug's face.

Special Amelie, thanks for the compliment, this picture I published once before, but some time ago I thought, let's leave PN and I started to get rit of my complete portfolio, but thanks God I only did throw 1 folder away.....so that's the story of today.

Okay, if the face on this bug is real and not manipulated then you have captured one amazing aspect of Mother Nature. If it is manipulated, then Mother Nature just sat back and laughed and laughed and laughed.

Good one, Els. I like the strong diagonal slant and, of course, the blue on blue theme.

Here's something I just discovered about deleting images -- namely, you don't have to, you can "hide" them. Just create a new folder and give it ranking of -1. Any photos you place in it will become invisible. Last week when I returned to PN, in a misguided effort to "prune" my portfolio to make room for new material, I deleted about 30 images and their threads. The next day I discovered that I could have just hid them instead. --jim

Hi Jim, thanks for the advice. Stupid me, but that's not new, I have sometimes strange moods, and I have been here off and onn, and I once seriously thought, what am I doing here on PN. I thought I could follow everything, but that's 'mission impossible'. And all the changes sometimes. Oh a long story, but it is nice to know you can hide them, so they will not be lost

PN is just like the "real" world - good people and bad people. And just like in the real world, you can learn from all of them. The hard part is not letting things get to you too much.

I remember this image, Els. He almost looks like a cartoon character!

Yes Kim, just like the 'real' world, some people can handle it better than others, that's also a fact.

Els, here is an insect placed not on the regular backgrund...it makes the form of the background in harmony with his wings. I like as well the diagonal placement, his funny look and the colors, well done. Pnina

And the real story Pnina, I didn't have my own Nikon D70 yet, and I borrowed my husband one, went out, and this was my first ever taken macro-shots of an insect, and lucky me he realy had this funny face, also the background, it was on a kind of net, lucky me. Just only one shot than he flew away

Groetjes, Ada:)
