poutnik 1 Posted July 11, 2005 The wedding ceremony of my sister took place in a church over 600 years old. In this photo I wanted to emphasize the greatness of the building. What do you think of it? Thanks for your time and ideas... Jiri Link to comment
ransford 0 Posted July 11, 2005 Reminds me of some Dutch and Flemish paintings with modern dress. My eyes keep moving around this photo, which is one of my tests for a superlative work of art. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 11, 2005 Yes, really like an old dutch master this scenery and mood. Maybe I would have tried a version with a wee bit less space for the ground and more @ the top. Lighting is superb Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 12, 2005 Cathedral builders have been, eversince, after the effect of dwarfing Man in front of the sacrality of the places... I like the way you've captured this effect, and the way you've controlled this difficult light situation. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted July 13, 2005 I'd be proud of this one! I especially like the way you're "arranged" the people and emphasized their facing the front at an angle. It gives it a bit of depth into the frame as well as up and down. Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted July 14, 2005 That must have been a tricky exposure Jiri -- very well handled. What film did you use? The detail in the ceiling is very good, and your perspective correction is well done. I might have toned down the hot reflection at lower right. Regards, Leigh. Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted July 15, 2005 Thank you all for your comments. Leigh, you'd (maybe) be surprised that I used Velvia for this shot. (I had 2 last frames of a roll and the Pentax doesn't have interchangeable backs - I decided that I could at least give it a try. The rest of the shoot I did on BW Ilford). But somehow it was a day of (photographic) horrors - I was the backup shooter on the wedding, and I wanted to use mainly the Pentax 67 and then do some casual shots with a digital KM A200. But my handheld exposure meter broke down before we entered the church (I therefore only checked the exposure outside) and I didn't correlate the measurement readings on the digital with the external meter. So all my exposures were only wild guesses (with some bracketing)... I'm very glad that something usable came out... So thanks again for your positive reactions... Jiri Link to comment
jay_philbrick 0 Posted July 15, 2005 Beautiful shot. It really does make you feel small. I love how well you captured the lighting. Good job. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 17, 2005 Good guess with the metering! It does have a look of some of the Dutch church interior paintings. Link to comment
