guillelobera 0 Posted July 11, 2005 Three kilometers east of the city of Huesca, the solitary silhouette of the austere castle-abbey of Montearagon stands out, occupying the entire summit of a high and cleared hill. The castle was constructed in 1086 by King Sancho Ramirez to harass Huesca, in those times Islamic. Restoration work is now being carried out, and the castle can be reached by a track from the main road. More information. Link to comment

carloscarvalho 0 Posted July 11, 2005 Guillermo, I like the color spectrum of this picture. Also, you get the right angle for the castle. Nice shot. CC. Link to comment
atoscano 0 Posted July 12, 2005 Espectacular Guillermo, la silueta de la edificacion, enmarcada por los arboles del primer termino y ese fondo degradado, en diversos colores, hacen muy atractiva la fotografia. Saludos cordiales. Link to comment

alberto.conde 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Everything in this picture is outstanding. The image itself, the composition, the moment, the light... briefly, everything! And, of course, that bit of history that you so very well tell us.Let me, simply, add something about this great monastery-castle:1.- Due to the King's decission to build Montearagón, nearby Loarre castle was left behind and, somewhat, forgotten. Perhaps, due to its losing warring importance, Loarre has reached us, today, in an almost pristine condition to be one of the top examples of civil and religious romanesque art in Spain.2.- Montearagón is a very good example of the abandon and neglect of spaniards towards our own history and monuments. It's only 15 kms from the city of Huesca and a mere couple of kms from the main road from Huesca to Barcelona and, yet, there is no road to reach it and almost no indications! Just a dirt narrow and unmacadamed path worth only for Full Wheel Drive cars... A great shame!! Link to comment
orensztajn 0 Posted July 13, 2005 Es una lastima que ne se conserve lo poco que nos queda de nuestra historia pero por lo menos queda esta foto magnifica para la posteridad. Brillante los colores que has conseguido y el angulo tambien. Link to comment
