Built in 1857 to supply raw materials for the Staffordshire potteries, closed in 1972. In 1979 it was derelect and vandalised, but it has been restored as a museum.Scan of a 1979 print.

Damn, Peter, that's gritty! The lone person, white sky, and hazy background are perfect. Might crop a little left and top, mainly to get rid of the chimney sneeking in at the side. Don't think its adding anything to the composition, but might be wrong. Not seeing any use for it at first glance, anyway.

This is a rare and gentle treatment for a hard and cold subject. The grain gives a pleasing nostalgic feel, and the haze in the backgroung adds to the temporal ambivalance of your shot!

 

A timeless documentry shot!
