connealy 0 Posted July 4, 2005 The dark, wire-like stems contast nicely with the foliage and the out of focus, monochrome green background. The picture has a dream-like quality that suggests a secret world and pre-human time. Nice work. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,252 Posted July 5, 2005 Thanks Mike. It's always nice to get your input. I don't know the first thing about ferns, don't know the name of these, but they're different from the rest I saw on the trail. You saw what I saw, those black stems holding up some very green leaves & they looked a bit pre-historic to me too. They're about 2 ft. tall. Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted July 5, 2005 Wow! Great shot! That green colour is perfect. The way they are all "composed" is nice too, adds an extra level of interest. Very calming to look at. Link to comment
jam50 0 Posted July 6, 2005 These are Northern Maidenhair Ferns, and this is a great shot! Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted July 6, 2005 Mike- this is super. This weekend my husband & I took a short trip on the motorcycle. One road was edged with ferns for several miles, it was beautiful. I could NOT talk my husband into stopping. Narrow, winding road & stopped Harley don't make for a good experience. I'm glad to see someone captured this beautiful scene! Nice job! Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,252 Posted July 7, 2005 James I'm in your debt for that bit of information, Jay & Leanne, thanks for the nice comments[i really like green]. And Jayme thanks for taking time out to look & comment, too bad your driver couldn't stop for you, [We never stop & ask for directions either] Link to comment
jam50 0 Posted July 16, 2005 You're very welcome, Mike. I really like green, too, and I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of tramping through my woods to get another view of these beauties. Y'all can see them here: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3544694 Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted December 27, 2005 This is superb! Love the Dof on this and the green. I have been trying to grow these lovely ferns in my garden for years and they never seem to survive. Its a treat to see such a very good shot of them in their natural habitat. Wish it were in my portfolio. Now, I will just have to find something like it!! Link to comment
