I was out shooting some fishing nets and other pedestrian maritime

artifacts when I decided to shoot some abstract stuff. This shot was

the result of camera motion and fishing nets and boat.

I definitely prefer this one over the other, an overlapping of past and present, and an interesting sense of scale, but I'll say no more than that for now. Its producing a very clear image in my little nogg'in.

camera movement up and then down or only one direction? This is cool. I tried something along the lines of a camera up down swivel motion on a ferris wheel. It was really weird.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Sometimes it's fun to go out and shoot abstracts. Knicki, this one was produced by an up and over movement, if I remember correctly.

Bob, Of these two abstracts, this is my favorite by far. I love the sense of movement, the pattern of the lines and the transition between the blocks of color. Having attempted a number of impressionist shots this past week, I can appreciate how difficult it is to get a well balanced composition. You've certainly acheived that here!

Bob, pleasing the masses isn't always a good thing. It requires too many compromises. Keep experimenting. In the end, these are the photos that will be remembered by a few. The others that "please the masses" will be forgotten by the masses.

This is one of your nicest abstracts! I like the way there is symmetry of similar shapes repeated all over the frame. It is interesting to see some of the shapes in different colours, with lots of rythm going from yellow to light blue, passing through the arch of red-green-blue primary colours. The sharp horizontal and diagonal lines also help a lot the shot, in "trapping" the movement of the nets into pre-assigned cells of this big table.
