jim.henderson 1 Posted June 30, 2005 Beautiful, but the bottom left is a bit of a downer. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted June 30, 2005 Robert, I think the picture will be wonderful as a panorama (just get rid of the empty forground). cheers jana Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 1, 2005 Jim and Jana, thanks for your comments--both of you seem to be advocating a major crop, perhaps 40-50% from the bottom. While losing the calm of the expanse of the water, it would certainly tighten this up. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 10, 2005 The still water, and the soothing light, does give the impression of quiet and calm. The problem with it is that the reflection of the cloud does not act strongly enough as a foreground, while there is too prominent and nice a subject in the background with the craggy peaks in the last lights of the day. The image seems to suffer for this: one gets the "no-anchor" and "too-much-water" feelings. Possibly, at another hour of the day, with a more balanced gradient of light, this would have worked better but, here, I'm also a fan of the idea of reducing the foreground, and convey the quiet and the stillness through a dead-centre, symmetric, horizon-cum-reflection.
