robertbrown 1 Posted June 30, 2005 First attempts at street photography. Which do you prefer--the posted version or the straight version? Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted June 30, 2005 Hello Robert, I think sepia is good for the soft tones you have used. In the BW one, you may have needed a bit more contrast, which would have made the boys look more thuggish and less funloving. Very good work. Regards. Pete Link to comment
stane c. 0 Posted June 30, 2005 As I see them, they are posing to a photografpher. Maybe if you catch them while they were "terrorists"... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 30, 2005 note to self: dont go to any street fairs in astoria or bring shield and large marshmellow gun for defense. I agree on the comment about the toning/effects making this more a nice boyhood memory type of shot. It doesnt seem so much as a standard street shot as they seem to know you and you them. Now, the bigger issue is..if you know these boys why on earth are you letting them out at a street fair with marshmellow shooters? baad adult role model. Knic Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 1, 2005 Peter M., thanks for your nice commment. The boys were having a good time. Stane, I agree that an action shot would have been preferable to this. Peter A., thanks for the comment. I certainly re-process this in PS and correct the vignetting which has, in retrospect, been allowed to get too strong. Knicki, if you come to Astoria, I'm getting a marshmallow gun to protect my xpan which you seem to have impure desires for. Actually the kids mostly fired at friends and had battles in a vacant block, though a few innocent bystanders were hit when street battles moved into the market. Between snaps, I did move them back to the war zone. My kids accuse me of being hyper-vigilant quite often. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 2, 2005 Robert- I've always had impure thoughts about your gear all the way from your holga up. Link to comment
rich fehrman 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Wow now. Personally Robert, I like the vignetting. Interesting image. Reminds me of one of my favorite photographers James Withrow Delano. If you are not familiar with his work check out his website: http://www.jameswhitlowdelano.com/index.html Keep up the good work. Link to comment
