colin carron 58,916 Posted June 28, 2005 I like the bright background - a challenge to get the shadow detail right although the light and shade on her face is good. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted June 28, 2005 Wow Pnina, what good lighting for this ladies' portrait. I think the way it falls on her face shows a great deal of dignity and character that lives in her.....Jim Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 28, 2005 Jim, the lady is over 80 years old! wonderful and nice woman, I was invited to her home and was impressed by her personality. Thanks to all of you. Pnina Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted June 29, 2005 While other people talk about the lighting, I say the composition is strong here. The detail is great and the expression is candid. To me, this is impressive work. Link to comment

hiroya 0 Posted June 29, 2005 Is this the calligrapher of "Every day is a good day"? Looks having a good time with you. I think light through the paper screen(maybe) softened contrast of this portrait in backlight. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted June 29, 2005 Another special one with playing with a lot of objects, the personality, the light, the lines I like it a lot Pnina, and the white framing gives the finishing touch Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 29, 2005 Hiroya, Yes, it is the Kaligraphy teacher of "everyday day is a good day", a very impressive woman, and Yesd, it is a paper screen that I have photographed her there, the soft light fits her nice personality. Thanks Kim and Els, I appreciate your comments. Els my dear, glad to see you here! Pnina Link to comment
jeremy freeland 0 Posted June 30, 2005 Interesting pose angle against challenging lighting. I like the placement of the wooden frames in the back of the image, and how the horizontal frames are picked up in the ribbing on the jacket. I have to say that it doesn't seem that sharp on my monitor - looks as though that's the jpg compression - so there's less detail in her face than I expect you have in the original. Best, Jeremy Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 30, 2005 Jeremy, I didn't aim to sharpness here, I wanted it soft as her soft nice and classy personality. that why I have asked her to stay in front of the paper screen. The room was in dim light so the result showed her gentle lines.... Thank you Jeremy. Link to comment
