robertbrown 1 Posted June 28, 2005 Thanks. I considered cropping about 25% from the bottom, but decided not to. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 28, 2005 I definitely think it was a good idea not crop the image - even though it is rather bottom heavy, it works here. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 28, 2005 Please don't crop !... Great sky on water, very well composed. Superb ! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 28, 2005 Good shot, dont crop it works like this, looks like a Ansel Adams. WP Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 28, 2005 I agree Bob. Don't crop. The reflection in the bottom tells us what's outside of the frame on the top. This one works just fine as is! Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted June 29, 2005 Thanks, everyone for your comments. I was hoping for an Ansel-like shot with this one. The attached shot is Adams' famous shot of Lake McDonald. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 9, 2005 Thought it looked familar, there very similar. The tonality is what seperates the 2 and Ansel shoots 4/5 format. I myself am more a Edward Weston/Brett Weston fan/Minor white. Still a great image though. WP Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 9, 2005 U really cant tell from the monotor but the actual print smokes the Ansel image you have posted here tonality wise. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted August 9, 2005 Weston, thanks for your nice comments. While my digital photo prints very well, it certainly is no match Adams' prints--which I've seen on a few ocassions. Much of Adams' work was done with an 8x10 camera and the prints, as I'm sure you are aware, are truly amazing. As for photographers, I'm not as keen on the Westons as you are. I think they were excellent technicians with a good eye for form, but most of their work leaves me cold. I like Minor White a lot. My current favorite photographer is Michael Kenna, but my tastes are continue to evolve. Thanks again for stopping by. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 19, 2005 Michael Kenna indeed one of my favorites as well. Have u heard of Holfe Horn. He studied under Kenna, its almost where the student becomes the teacher. Cheack him out if you already havent. http://www.f45.com/ Link to comment
