robertbrown 1 Posted June 28, 2005 Tried some street photos yesterday. Comments, suggestions appreciated. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 28, 2005 ah crud, its contagious isnt it? I refuse, I mean refuse to shoot any streets with people on them no matter how much you make it look like fun. I really like the 'free' sign above the dancers. Light hearted. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 28, 2005 Definitely like the manipulated version. Cool vibe. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted June 28, 2005 Knicki--I'm glad you noticed that (the "free" sign) ... it's one of the things I liked about this one. I planned to spend the afternoon trying out some "street" photograpy and it sprinkled/rained all afternoon, though it didn't ruin this couple's fun. Link to comment
mdickerson 0 Posted June 28, 2005 This one works better than "Emphysema" for me, since the couple in the center stands out more as a subject and the sign on the left makes for a less symmetric composition. I suspect both of them are suffering from the small display size here though. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 28, 2005 Of your recent pano street shots, this is my favorite. While there's a lot going on in the frame, there are obvious places for the eye to stop and linger. The dancing couple have not only captured my attention, the rest of the crowd seems to be watching them too (as were you). I like the layering and toning you did. It adds a richness and pleasing mood to the shot. Now..if you'll excuse me, I have some unexplained urge to go grill myself a sandwich. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted June 29, 2005 Michael and Laurie, thanks for your comments. Michael, when scanned properly, Xpan shots can be printed up to about 24" without degradation. Laurie, your right about this being the best of the group. It saddens me that I'm having to resort to digital trickery to get something that looks ok . . . Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 29, 2005 Bob, I like the unmanipulated version as well! You're being a bit hard on yourself for a first attempt with the added challenge of rain. I'll bet if you keep shooting these and perhaps choose a day that isn't raining, you'll get even better results. I suspect you were limited to shooting from under an umbrella. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 29, 2005 Now, Bob dont go listening to Laurie. Obviously, you werent meant for this type of shooting or worse this particular camera. I feel the best way for you to recover from your curse would be to package that camera up and mail it in a southerly direction. I believe postage from your place to mine isnt that much. I think the worst part about this shot is they only offer coke on their menu. Where's the pepsi? where's the dr pepper? where on earth are the veggie sammies? Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 1, 2005 Knicki, you can't have the Xpan. If you're ever in Astoria, I might let you touch it. I may be down your way in the middle of August: we're spending two days at the Shakesperean Festival (8/18 & 19), then a week of Oregon Outback (SE Oregon). If we end up stopping or staying in Grants Pass, maybe you could suggest a good place for a brew (coffee in the morning, a cold one after lunch). Also, if you know of interesting places to shoot around Ashland, let me know. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 1, 2005 most of ashland is pretty interesting. Are you going thru jacksonville too? just a small touristy town. I'll have to ask around about the coffee...brew of choice around here is dutch bros although I like the human bean more. I'll email you more later. Link to comment
