American Bittern makes an appearance in Henderson Inlet.

Very well composed, but I think a polarizer would help and your other heron photos some because of the water. Beautiful job though.

Nice use of the bird's surroundings to set this one off.

regarding the polarizer: nice thought but at iso 500, 1000th sec, f5.6, a polarizer would decrease available light. Perhaps further PS work would be a better alternative. This was taken with 500mmf4 plus TC14 giving 1000mm equivalent with D70. Image crop represents 25% of original frame.

Hi David, I have to say this is a green heron (young). The white markings will go away as it gets older. BTW, I need your lens :)
