Every year, on the evening of the 21the of June, the day the summer

begins, the Baron opened his castlegate for the residents of the

small village. The people always looked forward to it and they came

in large numbers to the castle where long tables were placed in the

inner. Until far into the night they enjoyed the abudance of food,

wine and music. But since the Baron passed away the castlegate stays

closed for the public. His young and beautiful widow, the Baroness is

in mourn for a long time now:(

This shot is a review on better days. I hope you'll enjoy it. Your

comments are welcome and will be appreciated. Thanks, Ada:)

Before I read your discription of this photo, I had imagined something very close to your comments. The dark sky fit perfectly then. Before that I was wishing for something a little more cheerful. I think it is amazing you didn't use a tripod to take this. You have it centered almost perfectly. Almost. I love old buildings. Nice job.

Hi Terresa, I'm very happy and graceful with your comment. And you're right. It should have been better if I had used a tripod, probably this shot should have been perfect balanced then and it real bothers me that it isn't. But I don't like it to walk around with that tripod. Taking pictures is still only one of my hobbies and perhaps when I ever become more professional in it or when I start to loose my steady hand:( I will take the trouble to carry around with a tripod. At any rate it's great that inspite of it's imperfection you appreciate my picture. I've tried to let it radiate a certain mood and I think I succeeded. Besides, I love old buildings too, they can tell you so many stories. Cheers, Ada:)

I always love the little write up behind each picture. Makes them so much more intereting & intriguing. I too like the stormy sky & the path that leads me to the entrance of the doorway.

Ada, I would guess that this is a composite of building and sky. If so, I think you've chosen well in matching the light quality of the two and that you've done a fine job in the transition area. I also like the fact that you left the convering lines (building leaning back) alone to give it a more imposing, dramatic feel (which matches the sky.) I feel reluctant to walk in through the gate . . . afraid I can never leave! ^_^

Good morning my dear Ada, What a very imposing angle you have taken this from. I like the fact that the inner space looks inviting, but that you need the nerve to actually cross under the arch to get to it. Like the imposing sky, the shadows leading up the walk and under the arch give a very omious feel to the scene. As Wilson has said will I make it to the inner circle and if I do will I be able to return. Nicely done Ada, your getting much more comfortable with PS I see :). Have a great day! Cheers Nova :)

Hello Michael, it's nice to see you. I know there are a lot of castles and castle ruins in Scotland. And I'm sure I will never find similar ominous buildings here in Holland. But with a little help of PS our sky's can be even dramatic as yours.

My dear Cherlyn, I really like it that you are so conscientious in following my castleseries. I hope the Baroness will put me to continue the story with much more interesting details.

Hi Wilson, I feel honoured with your comment. This was the first time I have worked in layers and I have used tools from wich I had no idea that they existed and it helped me to bring a particular mood in this shot. I'm reasonable content with the final result. Never to old to learn:) O, and think twice before you decide to go in here Wilson, I have to warn you for the Baroness:)

A good morning to you too Nova, that's a long time ago and I'm happy you stop by. I like the way you describe your thoughts and feelings about this picture. Your doubt to enter the path which led to the inner is understandable. You know the Baroness. She is a man-chaser. I can't assure you that she'll give you the chance to leave the castle LOL

LOL

Groetjes Lieve Els, Ada.

Nice to see you on this rainy morning. You're not the only one who is interested in the fortunes of the baroness, I notice. Well, I do my very best to catch her on doing something naughty LOL. Cheers, Ada;)

I really like your way! Leaving words with your shot is great! Moreover the captivating story, I like the symetry and the good perspective of this photo. Also, the dramatic sky works well. I think a light filter to increase darkness on some parts of this castle could be nice and could recall the sky.

Hi Yann, thank you very much for your appreciation. I feel very honoured. I'm glad with your suggestion about a filter. But perhaps there is also a manner to solve this problem in PS?! If there is any, I should like to hear that from you. Greetings, Ada:)
