pnital 36 Posted June 17, 2005 Was taken in Japan. Please comment your thoughts, Thanks Pnina Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted June 17, 2005 Love the facial expression you've captured Pnina. Good street scene. I may have rotated slightly or cropped slightly for the slanted wall at right Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Boy is this nice. The composition is outstanding. For that matter its top notch work all the way Prina. Link to comment
saucerman 0 Posted June 17, 2005 Pretty good candid shot. Blocks in background a bit distracting, and it's hard to tell what the stroller is about - grandma lost her baby, or just a convenient shopping cart. Faces are harder without eye contact. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 17, 2005 Ken, Thanks again...always helpfull... Thanks Larry and Peter. Peter, it was a shoping cart...and she was so bent that it was imposible to see her eyes, that anyway were nearly closed... Thanks to all of you. Pnina Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 18, 2005 The old lady pushing the burden of love. Nice image. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted June 18, 2005 I like how You have her comming tidely on the side, she really holds on to it, hopefully it is a good day for her too. Link to comment
mbalzan 0 Posted June 18, 2005 Kept me looking. The shot is superb, Pnina, but that brick on the middle right (being quite visible) detracts from the overall awe of the slow movement of the lady (my opinion) Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 18, 2005 Mario, thanks for your point of view which I find right. I will think about cloning it, even it does not disturbe my eyes, we shall see if more viewrs will reffer to it. Thanks. Pnina Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted June 18, 2005 A touching photo, I love her attitude, her energy against aging and frailty. Great shot. As you know, I am a bit more for B&W @ the moment, so I tried a sepia toned version, I think it could be more appropriate here. Regards Carsten Link to comment
jeremy freeland 0 Posted June 18, 2005 I like the composition - the lines coming up out of the bottom r/h corner emphasize the woman's hunched posture - she's being forced back down to the lower r/h corner. I think there's a good thematic element here as well - an aging woman relying on a push-chair designed for an infant. Best, Jeremy. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 18, 2005 I like it in Sepia, for sure another posibility, and thank you for taking the time and your comment.I'm a color freak as you know, so I like the color version of mine, but I'm glad you have uploaded the sepia and I hope people will refer to the 2 versions. pnital 36 Posted June 18, 2005 I did not think in that direction but the thematic ellement you thought about ( or the symbolism) is sooo accurate. It is the two sides of human existence from childhood to old age that are "connected" in a way in that street image.what is nice about thoughtful comments is that they enrich the ways of thinking, by the impressions expressed. Thanks Jeremy. Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted June 18, 2005 well, your Japan-pictures would have been incomplete without a picture of the impressive very-old-people there, and this woman is a real good "example". I remember the ones I have met on the countryside, having the very same body-posture and still working their rice-fields and doing their Miso, offering you some green tea when they made sure you are trustworthy. You see, I'm just getting sentimental. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted June 19, 2005 Now this I really really like a lot. The composition is not too busy and the exposure is right on. Mostly, it's the face. You captured that window into the soul. I congratulate you. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted June 19, 2005 A photo of character & story. Sensitive & touching. I like the sepia version too. It enhances the mood & sensitivity of the shot. Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted June 19, 2005 Really good portrait. Something makes me moved. I like the sephia version more even like original one a lot. Well composed and good timing. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 20, 2005 Andrea,I'm glad it brought you memories from your time in Japan Andrea, Howard, Cherlyn and Kurt, I appreciate your skills and so I appreciate your comments, getting twice 3/3 for that image looks not very serious understanding of photography.... Pnina Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted June 20, 2005 I like the sepia version, too - the brick doesn't distract in that one and your full attention goes to the woman. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted June 20, 2005 Nice simple shot showing everyday life. Great expression on this woman. I like the sepia version also. Good work as always! Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted June 20, 2005 Well, of course, I prefer the colour version as it makes the shot more everyday, matter-of-fact which fits in with the rest of the shot including the background. Link to comment
mari_mar 0 Posted June 20, 2005 I love it, Pnina, a poem about the old age. Excellent! Link to comment
