This shot is part of a mini series of things you can do with small metal letters. I realize that technically it could be much better but perhaps you can assure me that it is an improvement on previous attempts!

Comments welcome.

Oh yea, absolutely this is a step in the right direction. A BIG step. As you know, I'm a great fan of this concept of yours. It's great!

Now to pick on you a bit: I think to take this shot to the next level you need to manage the reflections in the upper parts of the shakers. Maybe a reverse seamless paper with a hole cut in it for your lens. I hope you don't think I'm just looking for fault but this is such a great concept. Anyway, just my two cents FWIW.

I'm glad you're continuing the series. All the best.

Jamie,

Thanks very much, I was rather hoping you would have the time to comment on this one. I am very pleased you feel it is an improvement on previous attempts, maybe I'll get something close to your magnificent bulb shots one day:)

I am now, a proud owner of a brand new Nikon SB800 speedlight which not only makes the lighting easier, it also makes it all so much quicker!

I very much appreciate your comments regarding control of the reflections at the top of the letters as it is the kind of comment that helps me improve. I'll definately try your suggestion.

Thanks again

Mark, it's good to see you got bitten by the speedlight bug. I just wonder how long it will be now before you mention that you have two, then three and so on. They're like chocolates: You can never stop at just one. We did choose a rather expensive hobby didn't we? Just think how many wool sweaters we could all have if we'd just taken up knitting :o) All the best.

You're right Jamie. I am considering taking up a new hobby of just giving away loads of money as it might work out cheaper.

I can understand the speedlight proliferation problem. I'd had my SB800 about twenty minutes before I started thinking about getting an SB600 too.

I sat here for a moment thinking what did Jamie mean by shakers and then it hit- these are salt and pepper shakers, duh!

I really like this one and agree it is a big step in the right direction. Controlling your reflections in future versions will only make this better.

Knicki!

You are correct! these are salt and pepper shakers which limits the angle at which I can take the shot as otherwise I you see the holes in the top :) I am on the hunt for some non-perforated letters at the moment.

It means a lot to me that you like the idea here as your own portfolio is one of my favourites. Thanks for dropping by!
