OK, critique taken. Why not so aesthetic? In my opinion those strong artifacts on the right of the photo are quite disturbing. They usualy appear when working with gradual layers in PS, combined with blur and maybe levels or contrast layers. It could happen to anyone and it's not a tragedy, but it can be avoided. In my opinion, the background doesn't suite very well your subject, it's a bit artificial. But, I agreed that overall aesthetic impression is good (5). Concerning originality: I've seen lots of cows pictured in this manner (you can find them even on photo.net), but I think you captured this funny horse from a different angle. This means: originality - very good (6). I hope this clears this misunderstanding. I think you realise that we can only have subjective opinions about aesthetics. Even professional critiques are subjective.

hey :-) thank you - thats more like it :-))) i have to say that i havent work with layers here but i just used the filters mentioned in the deatails...and i posted this image because i liked both the face and the background, i could easyly remove the background but i kinda liked it and i left it like that and asked for comments - thats how i check my taste/view/skill...yes i do think that we are more rellaying on subjective than objective/measurable criteria here ...and thats fair enough, in fact thats the point IMHO...:-)...and thank you for coming back :-)...

Sometimes I really dont understand how people think about aesthetics. For me, the image MUST grab your eye, must make you stare at image. And THIS image did this to me... so its a GREAT IMAGE. Smooth tones, this lovely gray that is NOT gray but also blue and also cyan and also dark green at top and and and.... makes it to be great... An image IS great when makes you wonder what color it is, what is behind..and when you can imagine this on a wall as an artwork... And personally I CAN IMAGINE it as THIS.

Congratulations for this excelent piece if art.

Amazing! When I first saw this, I didn't even realize this was a horse ... I saw this strange-looking "skull" with huge, bulging black eyes and a strange set of teeth. I had to actually look twice before I realized what it was. Your choice of lens and perspective distortion here is quite impressive, very dramatic. And of course, the black and white tones are just perfect, freeing us from competing with colour in such a strong subject. This is great, great work. -David
