Guest Guest Posted June 9, 2005 Nice work Jayme. I like the sharpness and detail in the eyes and mouth with the high key effect. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted June 9, 2005 A good study - it seems to make contact with his mind. I like the composition and the high key treatment. Back on the 20D I see! Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Impressive eyes, how do you get them so sharp. Please tell my you reworked them rather then the camera being that good. Nice high key work, I like that you can still see the outline of the nose and eyebrows. The only place that I find distracting is around the upper lip, but I figure that is due to jpeg compression more then anything else. I keep comming back to the eyes in this shot as they are very strong and compelling, you can really get lost in there. Great shot and processing. Don Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Thank you al for the comments. Don- actually I did nothing to the eyes, I did take it with a softbox and umbrella flash set up. The only thing I did was crop. change to B&W and adjust the curves upward, then go back and burn in some of the image for accent. I did burn the eyes a bit. I also did not like the upper lip, but he has these absolutely adorable heart shaped lips, so I left it. Probably should have dodged them just a tad. Of course all the credit goes to Ethan for having his mother's beautiful eyes! Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted June 10, 2005 I was hoping you would tell me you had a secrete for making the eyes sharp. I have had a lot of problems with it. I have started playing with the camera setting to try to fix the problem. I use a D70 and my landscapes come out nice and sharp but my portraiture leaves a lot of post processing work. I still say this is an excellent image and the post processing was very well excuted. Don Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted June 11, 2005 Jayme, the in-your-face crop is definitely working here. The Gaussian blur really emphasized the eyes' sharpness. The high-key look would make Howard proud. ^_^ Link to comment
