Fuentidueña de Tajo can be reached very easily from Madrid. It's only 50 kms away right on top of the main road to Valencia. A sad ruin of a former important castle that belonged to theOrder of the Saint Jacque's Knights.

It was early evening and I took advantage of the glowing colours of the sun licking the sandstones

Actually, I am more for B&W but this one is really better in color. The warm sunlight and the strong blue sky make a nice color contrast, and the little cloud came along just right, nicely placed inmidst the supersaturated blue zone (polarizer + wide angle ?).

Regards

Beautiful light and I love the little cloud. The big sky adds to the sense of abandonment and there is good detail in the stonework.

Carsten and Colin, That day I went for the clouds (a typical spring day over here. Got to Uclés Castle, 100 kms from Madrid, where I found the spectacular sky I was looking for. On my way back home the clouds dispersed but, still, that warm light of the setting sun and the lonely cloud gave the opportunity.

Re B&W I am more and more for it. In this respect I reccomend Carsten to get into eBay and look for the Leica Mini II. A small jewel of a camera with a fantastic lens, ideal to be carried in your pocket everywhere. You can get it for around 70 euros! That's what I am using at present loaded with Ilford HP Plus 400 ISO for B&W street shots and for some B&W landscapes

Lovely palette in harmony. Clarity and tones are perfect in a beautiful composition. Like you I'm a fan of castles, (esp. old castles and ruins).

A very nice work. Kind regards.
