atkphotoworks 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Alec, I like the textures and the tones. By the way did you get a chance to do any night photograph at this place? I watched a video recently on night photography and the location that was used was similar to what you used here. Made for some great work. Nice work as always Alec. Link to comment
ikar.us 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Maybe it's just the ntaural location, but I'm thrilled. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted June 7, 2005 Nice photograph Alec. I like the texture and color; the sweeping lines add interest. Regards. Link to comment
dk. 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Very Nice Alec, I like the texture and colours too. And to me it is kind of original. :o) DK. Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Wow, what a neat place! Good composition & interesting textures. I'd like to see what it looks like later or earlier in the day for less harsh lighting. Link to comment
jvophotography 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Subject is definitely interesting. I too would like to see this same shot at a later period in the day with less harsh light. Beautiful location. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted June 7, 2005 Considering the light, this is handled very well, Alec. But, I kinda like the harshness of the light 'cuz this is a harsh place to live.... Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted June 8, 2005 Thanks guys for stopping by, didn't expect to create so much interest in this image. Amar, didn't have time to explore or camp out there as we were travelling through, perhaps another time. Michael, Walter, Francesco, Adolfo, David, I was enchanted by the raw beauty of nature there. It's truly remarkable. Karen, Dennis, Joe I have to underexpose 1 to 2 stops to get it right due to the harsh afternoon light. I am sure it will look better in the early morning or during the magical twilight time. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 8, 2005 The composition and colours are superb. Quite an interesting perspective of this beautiful famous place. Link to comment
glenn mellen 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Hi Alec - I'm jealous. Shot this same scene the end of April, also in the afternoon, but from a vantage point not quite as high as yours, and while snow was falling heavily. Mine went into the trash heap. :-( Zion and the other Southern Utah parks are truly amazing... looks like a completely different world. You captured the layering of the rocks very well here! alecee 0 Posted June 9, 2005 Glen, how can you be envious? I should be - after seeing your truly wonderful compositions. You make nature come alive. The crisp clarity and exposures are truly admirable. Nice going. Link to comment
sallycd 0 Posted June 10, 2005 Yes, it has a high defination texture and color. It has a sense of mascunility yet beauty got it's hold too. Thanks Alec for photos like yours, it's up-lifting for the senses. Kind regards, sally Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted June 11, 2005 Although I remember your previous red rock image being more abstract, this one is nice in the way that it gives sense of scale by including trees and cliff face (which reminds me of elephant skin!) Nice composition and good color. I like it. ^_^ Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted June 13, 2005 Thanks Sally, Wilson. Yes I did sent an image of the two rocks previously and this larger composition puts it into perspective. Link to comment
